Frequently Asked Questions
Helping Children in Louisville, Boulder, and Surrounding Communities Thrive Through Communication
At what age should I seek out help for my child?
There are differences in the age at which individual children develop and understand or use specific language skills. The American Speech-Language-Hearing reference charts show the development of communication skills from infancy through 4-5 years. If you have concerns or just questions about your child's communication skills, I would love to talk with you so give me call or contact me via email and we’ll figure out the next step.
Can a speech and/or language disorder affect school performance?
Difficulty in learning to listen, speak, read, or write can often lead to below grade level performance. If you have concerns about your child’s communication and/or academic skill development, please contact me for a consultation and we’ll figure out whether an evaluation to address your areas of concern is warranted.
How do I initiate speech-language therapy services?
If you are interested in speech-language therapy services, give me a call or email me to set up a time for a consultation. If you decide to pursue an evaluation and/or treatment following our phone conversation, we will schedule an initial session.
How frequent are therapy sessions, and how long do they last?
Therapy sessions typically range from ½ hour to 1 hour in duration. However, sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each child so the therapy schedule is individualized for each client relative to his/her therapy needs and goals, family schedules, finances, age and attention/tolerance level, etc.
What are your service fees?
I offer a variety of services (evaluations, individual and group therapy sessions, consultative services, etc.) and session lengths. Fees vary relative to these factors so please contact me for rates of your service needs.
Do you participate with any insurance companies?
I am a private pay practice. I do not participate as an in-network provider with other insurance companies. I will make every effort to provide you with the documentation you need to submit for reimbursement from your insurance company. If you plan to submit bills to your insurance company, you should check with your insurance company before your first visit to find out what speech and language services they will pay for. You should also find out what information the insurance company needs. For example, you may need a note from your doctor, called a referral, or permission from the insurance company called “pre-authorization”. Please keep in mind that referrals and pre-authorizations do not guarantee that insurance will pay for services.
Do you work with other professionals?
Consultation, screening, assessment, and treatment of communication problems may involve cooperative efforts with a variety of individuals in addition to parents and caregivers (e.g. speech-language pathologists, audiologists, psychologists, social workers, classroom teachers, special education teachers, guidance counselors, physicians, dentists). I will work closely with all those involved in your child’s care to insure the best possible treatment outcome.
Where is your office located?
My office is conveniently located just off Highway 36 in Louisville, Colorado between Boulder and Denver on the second floor of the Office Evolution building in the heart of the Louisville community.

"Nancy is a miracle worker. She helped our 12 year old daughter with a long term speech issue. My daughter emerged confident and I better understood how to support her development - all from Nancy's work. Nancy is so positive and encouraging that my daughter said Nancy may be the most positive person we know. She looked forward to every visit."
